Why Hugo Lloris is promising Tottenham pain in Man City Champions League decider

Manchester City WILL have Tottenham on the ropes in their Champions League quarter-final decider — but could be decked by a counter-attack sucker-punch.

That's the view of Spurs captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who is sure he and his team-mates are in for a tough night at the Etihad as the Quadruple-chasing Blues try to overturn a 1-0 deficit from last week's first leg and set up a semi-final against Juventus or Ajax.

“But no matter what happens tomorrow, I think we can be very proud of everything.” Pochettino believes there are still big steps to be made, but added: “With our new stadium, we need to be contenders to fight for the Champions League and the Premier League because we need the tools to be there.

Lloris, who stopped Tottenham conceding an early goal on home turf by saving a Sergio Aguero penalty, knows Pep Guardiola's City cannot afford to concede, and warned: “From one game to another, the football can change very quickly.

“But we know we can make the game difficult for them, too.

“We know in Champions League, it is always important not to concede a goal at home.

Like we did when we miss Harry, in football it is all about team performance.” Spurs will be breaking new ground in Champions League terms if they make the semis, and Lloris insisted it would be further evidence of their progress under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
