Edouard shines as interest in Celtic star grows

Just in case there wasn't enough interest in Odsonne Edouard, the Frenchman bagged a hat-trick for Celtic today in a season-opening win against Hamilton.

Crystal Palace are among the clubs interested in signing the striker and Neil Lennon admitting there are other clubs out there keeping a close eye.

"You can't help the attention. It is inevitable.

"But we will try to stave off any admirers. I am sure there is plenty out there.

"We love have him having him here and he enjoys being here. He will be well on the radar of clubs before this season.

"He got 27 goals until March last year and I was delighted with that goal return. He has the potential to be anything he wants to be.

Thiago very likely to join Liverpool this summer

Thiago Alcantara is very likely to join Liverpool this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo, who state the Reds are willing to meet Bayern Munich's £27million asking price.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield this summer, but reports came out of France today saying it was Paris-Saint Germain who had won the race.

The Spanish publication believes it's Liverpool where Thiago will be heading, however, after Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed the midfielder will leave this summer.

"Thiago informed Hasan [Salihamidzic, Bayern sporting director] that he would like to do something new again, and so it is. We will have to accept that," Rummenigge said.

Blades plotting bid for Matt Cash

Sheffield United are lining up an offer for Nottingham Forest defender Matt Cash, report Sky Sports.

The bid will reportedly be in the region of £10million, which Forrest are expected to reject in hope of receiving closer to £15million.

The Blades could also reportedly include a player in the offer to push a deal for the right-back over the line.

Pochettino refuses to rule out Barca job

Mauricio Pochettino has refused to rule out the possibility of coaching Barcelona, insisting "in life you never know what will happen".

The former Spurs and Espanyol boss in 2018 stated he would rather "work on a farm in Argentina" than for Barcelona.

But the 48-year-old has admitted he would "say things differently.

"I was in Barcelona that year and I met [Barcelona president Jose Maria] Bartomeu in a bar," he told El Pais. "We greeted each other because we were taking the children to the same school and we were talking for five minutes.

"That generated a rumour that set off alarms because there were more teams that wanted us, and when they asked me [about taking the Barcelona job] I wanted to settle it drastically.

"I did not want to disrespect Barcelona. You can say things differently. Espanyol has made a name for me, but I'm not arrogant and I didn't like making a statement like that.

"Maybe now I wouldn't because in life you never know what will happen."

Saints leading McKennie chase

Southampton are leading a Premier League chase to sign Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie, report the Express.

The Denmark international is Ralph Hasenhuttl's first choice to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield, who they will have to sell before agreeing a deal.

Hojbjerg has been heavily linked with a move away from St Mary's this summer, with Tottenham and Everton battling for the 24-year-old.

Meanwhile, Southampton face competition from Premier League rivals Leicester, Wolves, Newcastle and Everton for McKennie.

West Ham in for Wilson

West Ham are interested in bringing Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson to the London Stadium this summer, report the Sunday Express.

Wilson is reportedly looking to leave Bournemouth after they were relegated to the Championship this season.

The 28-year-old scored nine goals in 39 games in all competitions this season and wants to stay in the Premier League to keep his international hopes alive.

West Ham interested in Longstaff

West Ham are among a number of clubs interested in Newcastle youngster Matty Longstaff, report the Chronicle.

The 19-year-old - who agreed a short-term extension to his deal to see out the season - will be out of contract on Friday.

Longstaff will then be a free agent, though clubs will still have to pay Newcastle compensation should they sign him.

The Hammers are facing competition from fellow Premier League side Everton, with Schalke and Udinese also interested.

Ceballos: Betis have been in contact all season

Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos has revealed former club Real Betis have been in contact all season.

The midfielder's year-long loan spell Arsenal came to an end after Arsenal's FA Cup triumph over Arsenal on Saturday.

Standard Sport understands Arsenal are confident a further loan deal can be met, while Ceballos has revealed he has not yet spoken to parent club Real Madrid.

"I haven't spoken to Real Madrid yet, but anyone who wears that shirt is happy," Ceballos told El Partidazo de COPE. “Madrid are better than any club in the world. We'll see about my future.

“I'm not thinking about whether or not I can play for Real Madrid, Arsenal or another club.

“Now it's time to disconnect. I have to be calm and think clearly with my family about the coming year.”

“I’ve a lot of love for Betis, for everyone that works at the club,” he added. “They know the love I have for them and we've been in contact all season. Betis means a lot to me.”

Leicester interested in Celtic's Edouard

Leicester are interested in bringing Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard to the King Power Stadium this summer, report the Daily Mail.

Brendan Rodgers was a huge fan of the Frenchman during his tenure at Celtic Park, though a deal could reportedly cost as much as £40million.

Edouard wasted no time as the Scottish Premiership got underway today, scoring in the first half against Hamilton.

Just who is Man Utd-linked Gabriel Magalhaes?

Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes' representatives are in the UK to negotiate a deal for the defender, with Manchester United and Everton both interested, according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old is expected to leave the French club this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly targeting a centre-back to partner Harry Maguire.

Lille president Gerard Lopez has described him as an "absolute machine", but who exactly is he?

Giggs also impressed by Sancho's intelligence

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has been impressed by Jadon Sancho's intelligence, insisting his former club should sign the Borussia Dortmund star *as well as* Jack Grealish.

Photo: Getty

"Sancho is quick, direct but also an intelligent player," he said. "What I like about him is when he gets into those areas with the final ball, he doesn't panic. A lot of quick wide players sometimes do but he picks out the right pass.

"He's someone who can counter-attack if we're going to play that but also if a team are going to sit back, he can beat players and make things happen.

"They are two signings that may be available and if we're able to get them, I would go and get them."

Giggs urges United to sign Grealish

Jack Grealish has the right mentality to thrive at Manchester United, believes Ryan Giggs, who has urged his former club to sign the midfielder.

"I think the thing with Grealish is he's obviously used to the Premier League and doesn't need to adapt to it so that's good," Giggs told the Webby and O'Neill YouTube channel.

"For me from the outside, it looks like he's got the mentality to come to this place and not bother him. Certain players can get overawed.

"Also, the good thing this year is he's got 10 goals [in all competitions] and got into double figures so that would be one question mark I would have had with him: does he score enough goals?

"To get to double figures with no penalties for Villa is impressive."

Ronaldo hints at Juve stay

Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted he's set for another season in the Serie A with Juventus.

The 35-year-old has scored a staggering 63 goals in 88 games for Juventus since arriving in a surprise £88million transfer in 2018.

And after Juventus were awarded the Serie A trophy on Saturday, Ronaldo said on Instagram: "Happy to win the last two of the nine consecutive Serie A titles for Juventus!

"It seems easy but it isn't! Year after year with talent, dedication and hard work you can achieve your goals and be better than before! Let's go for my third."

Lampard urged to stick with Kepa

Glen Johnson has urged his former club Chelsea to stick with Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer, though admitting he's not at the required level as things stand.

Photo: Getty

He told Stadium Astro: “In terms of his level at the moment, no, for me he's not Chelsea's No1. But I think he has the ability, he has it in him.

“For whatever reason he's not performing at the moment. Chelsea's best scenario is to put their arm around him, work out what he needs and support him because at the moment I don't see him as Chelsea's No 1.”

He added: “Business-wise and personnel-wise, I think it's best for Lamps to work with what he's got.”

Ajax to alter playing style following Ziyech exit

Erik ten Hag believes Ajax will have to alter their playing style following the sale of Hakim Ziyech to Chelsea, with a further six players potentially to leave this summer.

Alongside Ziyech's departure, it's expected that all three of Andre Onana, Nicolas Tagliafico and Donny van de Beek will leave before the season begins next month.

"If you lose players who have had a big influence on the game, the playing style will change," ten Hag told Dutch NOS television on Sunday.

"You lack specific qualities. But of course the intentions remain the same. You should always set the bar higher than last season. The challenge is to get even more out of the players who are there now.

He added: "We have put together a selection that is strong. We have two players for each position, except the left-back. We have to see if we can fill it in internally or if we have to look outside."

PSG to launch Thiago bid

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a £27million bid for Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara, according to Le 10 Sport.

The Bayern Munich midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield of late, with chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirming the Spaniard will leave this summer.

The 29-year-old has informed the German champions he wants a new challenge, with Bayern keen to cash in with the midfielder approaching his 30s.

Despite links to Liverpool, it seems Thiago could be on his way to France this summer.

Juventus interested in Zaniolo

Maurizio Sarri is keen on bringing Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo to Juventus this summer, report Tuttosport.

Photo: Getty

The former Chelsea boss is reportedly looking to complete a deal for the 21-year-old before the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

The midfielder was a standout performer as Roma handed Juventus a 3-1 home defeat on the final day of the Serie A season.

Tottenham had also been linked with a move for Zaniolo, though it's thought Roma have no intention of selling him.

Everton plot King move

Everton are plotting a £15million move for Bournemouth striker Josh King, report The Sun.

Bournemouth - who were relegated to the Championship this season - are reportedly open to selling the 28-year-old in a bid to raise extra funds.

King has been heavily linked with a move to his former club Manchester United, but it's Carlo Ancelotti's side are looking to steal a march.

Barca halt Lautaro bid

Barcelona have stopped negotiations over a move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, president Jose Maria Bartomeu has revealed.

The Catalan giants have been locked in discussions over a player-plus-cash deal but Inter have refused to budge on their £98m asking price, which has proved too steep for the Catalans during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Barça have spoken with Inter about Lautaro, but the talks have stopped. The situation doesn't invite large investments," he told Diario Sport.

Man Utd snub Smalling loan extension

Manchester United have rebuffed Roma in their attempts to extend Chris Smalling's loan spell.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed a fine campaign in Italy, even reportedly attracting interest Juventus.

The Giallorossi want to extend his loan deal so that he can participate in the latter stages of the Europa League, but according to reports in Italy, United only want a permanent deal.

When does the 2020 summer transfer window open?

Premier League clubs have agreed on the revised start and finish dates of this summer’s transfer window.

The window is now open for 10 weeks from July 27.

Following consultation with the EFL, a domestic-only window will be added from 5 October, closing 5pm on 16 October. During this window, Premier League clubs will only be able to trade with EFL clubs (either loans or permanent registrations). No transfers can take place between Premier League clubs in this period.

Chelsea will push ahead with moves for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz and remain interested in Leicester City’s Ben Chillwel, while Manchester United are also expected to be busy this summer.

Jadon Sancho remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s number one target, and a deal should be completed if Man United can negotiate a compromise on the £100m-plus valuation Dortmund has for the England international.
