Welcome to the Evening Standard's rolling transfer news and rumours live blog as the summer transfer speculation increases.

The window officially opened this week after the completion of the delayed 2019-2020 Premier League season. Premier League clubs will now be busy reshaping their squad ahead of the new campaign, with the window scheduled to close on October 5.

Chelsea have already brought in the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, stealing a march on their rivals, while the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City are making early progress on adding to their squads.

Arsenal and Tottenham will have European football on offer for any of their targets, and that could prove invaluable over what is expected to be a difficult summer to conduct business.

Gabriel to Old Trafford?

Gabriel Magalhaes is a wanted man this summer - and he could be on his way to the north west of England.

According to Sky Sports, the Lille defender's representatives have flown into the UK to speak to two clubs - thought to be Everton and Manchester United.

At 22, Gabriel is seen as a more mobile partner to Harry Maguire at Old Trafford - but Everton are certainly keen, and Carlo Ancelotti is a big draw for any player.

United, of course, can offer Champions League football now, but given Lille just sold Victor Osimhen for around 50 million euros, they will be under no pressure to cash in right now.

LIVERPOOL NEWS

Youth boost for Liverpool

By all accounts, it looks as though Liverpool will be promoting young academy players this summer rather than making big signings due the the impact Covid-19 has had on their transfer budget.

Gini Wijnaldum believes that this will be a good thing for both Jurgen Klopp and his first-team squad though, saying: "First of all, [the academy players] are really humble, they are really greedy to learn from the older players in the team and that gives you a boost to help them even more because they really want to learn from the players in the first team, and beside that they have a lot of quality.

“We just be there for them, help them to prepare as good as possible so that when their time is there, they can do the job that we do now. It’s good to work with them and beside that they also make the squad stronger because when they train they give 100 per cent and they want to show how good they are. That makes us as first-team players better.

“So I think it’s both ways: it’s not that we only teach them but also that they make sure that we are on the front foot, because like I said they train at 100 per cent and even more, so also we have to be concentrated because they are good competitors in training.”

Ozil sends Arsenal message

Mesut Ozil congratulated his Arsenal team-mates on their FA Cup Final triumph after being permission by the club to travel to Turkey and miss the game.

Ozil was not in attendance at Wembley for Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Chelsea last night, despite the Gunners being permitted to bring 10 players outside of their matchday squads to the final.

The German midfielder has not played a single minute for the Gunners since football's restart and was recently given permission by the club to travel to Turkey.

The reason for that trip remains unclear, though Ozil did send a message of congratulations to his Arsenal team-mates.

After the win, Ozil wrote on Twitter: "Great job my boys! #YaGunnersYa #FACupWinners".

Parrott: I want to follow Kane's example

Troy Parrott says he is hoping to follow in Harry Kane's footsteps and forge a successful career at Tottenham after joining Millwall on loan.

Photo: Getty ImagesThe 18-year-old will join the Championship outfit for the 2020-21 campaign to replicate Kane's move in the 2011-12 season.

The Irish starlet has found first-team opportunities at Spurs limited in recent months and the experience of playing in the second tier will give Parrott some much-needed game time.

"Harry Kane went on loan to Millwall so hopefully I can follow in the same footsteps and go back and play in the Premier League," Parrott said.

Aubameyang has 'already decided' to leave Arsenal - Ferdinand

Photo: AFP via Getty Images

Rio Ferdinand believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already made the decision to leave Arsenal.

Captain Aubameyang scored twice at Wembley on Saturday as the Gunners came from behind to win their 14th FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over 10-man Chelsea.

Some fans feared that the final could be the Gabon striker's last game in red and white with his contract due to expire next summer and no agreement yet reached over an extension, with Arsenal no doubt eager to avoid losing their star man for nothing in 2021.

However, head coach Mikel Arteta is optimistic that the experience of lifting the trophy will help convince him to stay put long-term.

Aubameyang swiftly brushed aside questions over his future after the final whistle at Wembley, insisting that he was not thinking about the matter as he focused on celebrating the triumph with his team-mates.

And Ferdinand - working as a pundit on BT Sport - believes such a reaction is a sign that his mind is already made up over an Emirates Stadum exit.

"I think he's gone from that reaction," he said. "He's already decided.

"'I'm going to enjoy this with my team-mates' - he sounds like someone who is going elsewhere.

"Arsenal need to do all they can to keep him. He was unbelievable [today], Jesus.

"But the Arsenal fans adore him. Is he going to find that elsewhere in his career?"

Howe leaves Bournemouth by mutual consent

Eddie Howe's long second stint in charge at Bournemouth is over after he left the club by mutual consent.

The decision comes just six days after the Cherries were relegated from the Premier League after five years by a solitary point.

In a statement released by Bournemouth via their official club website on Saturday night, Howe said there was a collective feeling that "now is the right time for the club to go in a new direction" after agreeing his exit during talks with the club hierarchy.

“Having spent a total of 25 years with the club as both a player and a manager this decision - made together with the club - is one of the hardest I’ve ever had to make," he said.

“Bournemouth will always be in my heart, but I firmly believe that now is the right time for the club to have a change.

“I have always ensured that every decision I have ever made as manager has been in the best interests of the club and its supporters, and this is no different.”

RB Leipzig taunt Chelsea over FA Cup

Timo Werner caught a glimpse of what life at Chelsea will be like next season after watching his new team take on Arsenal in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.

Unfortunately for the Blues, it wasn't their day at Wembley after they went down 2-1 to Arsenal as the curtain finally came down on the doemstic season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's double helped the Gunners come from a goal down after Christian Pulisic's early strike.

And after Werner completed his big-money switch from RB Leipzig in June, his former club just could not resist a cheeky parting shot.

Fresh from their defeat at Wembley, the Bundesliga outfit decided to poke fun at Chelsea, posting an image to Twitter which appeared to imitate Werner texting his former colleagues.

The message read: "Timo Werner is typing...", insinuating that the German forward wanted to return to his native land after Chelsea's defeat.

When does the 2020 summer transfer window open?

Premier League clubs have agreed on the revised start and finish dates of this summer’s transfer window.

The window is now open for 10 weeks from July 27.

Following consultation with the EFL, a domestic-only window will be added from 5 October, closing 5pm on 16 October. During this window, Premier League clubs will only be able to trade with EFL clubs (either loans or permanent registrations). No transfers can take place between Premier League clubs in this period.

Chelsea will push ahead with moves for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz and remain interested in Leicester City’s Ben Chillwel, while Manchester United are also expected to be busy this summer.

Jadon Sancho remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s number one target, and a deal should be completed if Man United can negotiate a compromise on the £100m-plus valuation Dortmund has for the England international.
