Grant: Havertz will join Chelsea if Abramovich wants deal

Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant says Chelsea's move for Kai Havertz will simply come down to whether or not Roman Abramovich wants the player.

Photo: Pool/AFPFrank Lampard wants to wrap up a deal for Havertz so the 21-year-old has more time to settle in west London, but Bayer Leverkusen's Europa League bid could hold up the move.

Havertz has told Leverkusen he wants to join Chelsea, who have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner for next season.

Personal terms are not expected to prove an issure, with the clubs yet to settle on a fee which satisfies all parties. But Grant says Abramovich will stump up the fee necessary if he is sold on Havertz.

"Abramovich didn't have a problem with money before! When he wants something, he buys it," Grant told Stats Perform News.

"He doesn't do things to save money. Whether they have more or less money, I don't think it's important.

Parrott: I want to follow Kane's example

Troy Parrott says he is hoping to follow in Harry Kane's footsteps and forge a successful career at Tottenham after joining Millwall on loan.

The 18-year-old will join the Championship outfit for the 2020/21 campaign to replicate Kane's move in the 2011/12 season.

The Irish starlet has found first-team opportunities at Spurs limited in recent months and the experience of playing in the second tier will give Parrott some much-needed game time.

"Harry Kane went on loan to Millwall so hopefully I can follow in the same footsteps and go back and play in the Premier League," Parrott said.

Osmihen agent reveals English offers

The agent of Victor Osimhen has claimed English clubs were chasing his client before he decided to join Napoli.

Photo: AFPThe 21-year-old completed a £54m switch to the San Paolo which could rise to £71m, making him one of the most expensive African players of all-time.

But his agent, William D'Avila, claimed there were clubs from the Premier League and Bundesliga interested in signing the Lille striker.

“It was a great deal and, like any move of this size, required a lot of organisation,” D’Avila toldRadio Kiss Kiss.

“Victor is happy, he can’t wait to come back to Naples and begin working with his new team. It’s not that the transfer was difficult, rather it took a long time, because we wanted to be sure it was the right choice.

“There were several clubs pushing to get involved, from England and Germany, but after some reflection, we decided Napoli was the right decision. It’s the right club for Victor to achieve results and success."

Spurs 'in talks' over Skriniar-Ndombele deal

It seems like swap deals may be the theme of the summer transfer window due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Photo: ReutersAnd according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham and Inter Milan are in discussions over a deal which would see Milan Skriniar and Tanguy Ndombele swap clubs.

The 23-year-old, a record signing from Lyon in 2019, has struggled to make an impression for the north London club and has barely featured under Jose Mourinho, with Barcelona also interested in the Frenchman.

However, Standard Sport understands Tottenham are keen to keep Ndombele, recognising the 23-year-old needs more time to adapt after a difficult debut season in England.

Gerrard: Morelos will only leave for big fee

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has said it will take a 'big number' to convince the club to sell Alfredo Morelos.

Photo: AFPThe Colombian is being watched by Lille after they sold Victor Osimhen to Napoli for £54m and want the 22-year-old as a replacement.

But Gerrard, speaking to Sky Sports, said they don't want to lose the striker: "You know what I know, you get noise around those types of players.

"It's one of those where myself and the board will only sit down if we are happy with the numbers. We don't want to lose any of our top players, but if it does happen it will be for a big number, for sure."

Spurs striker Parrott joins Millwall on loan

Tottenham striker Troy Parrott will spend next season on loan at Millwall, the Championship side have confirmed.

The Lions have agreed a season-long deal for the 18-year-old, who agreed personal terms and passed a medical earlier this week.

A teenage Harry Kane spent the second half of the 2011-12 season on loan at the Den, helping to save the Lions from relegation, and he has said the spell "turned me into a man".

Parrott is already a Republic of Ireland international, having made his debut against New Zealand last November, but was repeatedly declared "not ready" for Premier League football by Spurs manager Jose Mourinho before the lockdown.

He missed the restart after undergoing a hernia operation and was not included in any match-day squads after returning to fitness in mid-July.

Parrott has been given a glowing reference by Ireland U-21 teammate Jayson Molumby, who spent last season on loan at Millwall from Brighton.

When does the 2020 summer transfer window open?

Premier League clubs have agreed on the revised start and finish dates of this summer’s transfer window.

The window is now open for 10 weeks from July 27.

Following consultation with the EFL, a domestic-only window will be added from 5 October, closing 5pm on 16 October. During this window, Premier League clubs will only be able to trade with EFL clubs (either loans or permanent registrations). No transfers can take place between Premier League clubs in this period.

Chelsea will push ahead with moves for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz and remain interested in Leicester City’s Ben Chillwel, while Manchester United are also expected to be busy this summer.

Jadon Sancho remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s number one target, and a deal should be completed if Man United can negotiate a compromise on the £100m-plus valuation Dortmund has for the England international.
