Sporting to offer Fernandes new deal

Sporting CP will reportedly be offering Bruno Fernandes a new deal following the failure to agree a transfer this summer.

The Portuguese side were attempting to sell their captain in the transfer window for a sum of around €70million (£62.6million), but no clubs would agree a deal at that price.

Both Spurs and Manchester United were said to be in the running, but when a move could not be agreed with either side, an exit for the 25-year-old collapsed.

And now, according to A Bola (via Sport Witness), the Primeira Liga side will be improving Fernandes’ contract.

The midfielder currently earns around €1.5million-per-year, and will see this salary increased to €2million. However, this is well short of what Spurs were said to be offering in the summer - around €3.5million.

Sporting are apparently still interested in selling the star, with Real Madrid also said to be keen on him.
