Ben Davies posted a picture on Instagram to confirm that his groin surgery was successful.

It can take between three and six weeks to recover from groin surgery, so he should return sometime in July if he can avoid any setbacks.

The Tottenham defender delayed his surgery in order to play for Wales against Croatia and Hungary in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, but he was in hospital on Thursday to finally get his operation.

Davies has plenty of time to recover from surgery, so Pochettino should have at least one of his fullbacks ready for their opening game.

Despite playing second fiddle to the Englishman last season, Davies still made 40 appearances in all competitions – most notably featuring in the Champions League semi-final and EFL Cup semi-final.

He has an important role to play in the Tottenham side and could become first-choice at left-back if Rose does depart.

Mauricio Pochettino can’t afford to be without the Welsh international when the new season kicks off, as Danny Rose previously admitted he could leave Tottenham this summer.
