Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Norwich City centre-back Ben Godfrey in the January transfer window, that is according to Football Insider.

Added to that, he is also English which means Spurs would be adding a player who would count towards their home-grown quota.

Vertonghen is popular in north London and for good reason, but a successful swoop for Godfrey could be the end of the road given his age and contract situation.

With both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen out of contract at the end of the season, a new centre-back should be a priority for Spurs.

According to the report, Spurs had been interested in the centre-back in the summer, but he ultimately chose to stay at Carrow Road, signing a new five-year deal.

The 21-year-old has been a regular for the Canaries this season, starting in each of their first 15 Premier League fixtures (Transfermarkt).

However, it is believed that Godfrey remains firmly on the club’s radar and they could well go back in for him when the transfer window reopens in January.
