? Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to sell Christian Eriksen for less than £40m when the January transfer window opens next month, with the Denmark international still intent on leaving the club after refusing to sign a new contract.

Mourinho has already ruled out a move for Bruno Fernandes because of the potential cost, while the Manchester Evening News has reported that Spurs are not interested in signing defensive shield and Mourinho favourite Nemanja Matic.

But despite rumours that the arrival of new manager Jose Mourinho might see him change his mind and agree an extension, the 27-year-old appears to have his heart set on a new challenge.

Spurs are at risk of losing Eriksen as a free agent in June and their only alternative is to sell him next month.

For context, Levy is said to have been willing to sell Eriksen for £80m when Manchester United were briefly interested in August.

As such, the Evening Standard explains that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ‘pushing’ for a sale and is willing to consider offers of less than £40m.

Aside from United, Juventus, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were all linked with Eriksen during the summer.
