Rangers legend Ally McCoist reckons Sean Dyche is 'good enough' to manage Newcastle if he decides to leave Burnley.

Dyche has been with the Clarets for seven and a half years and performed admirably on a shoestring budget.

Amid doubts over several players in his squad, Dyche has demanded backing from Garlick and been denied.

Dyche has been the subject of interest from clubs in the past but always remained loyal to Burnley.

The row with Garlick has now put Dyche's future in question and alerted clubs to his potential availability.

Although McCoist reckons Dyche won't land himself a top-six club, he believes Newcastle are among the teams he would be well suited to.

"Sean Dyche has done an unbelievable job, I think he's done a fantastic job at Burnley," McCoist told talkSPORT. "It's inevitable there will be a parting of ways, but the one thing I would say is he definitely deserves the opportunity to go and manage and coach at the top level, higher up the league, I definitely think that."
