Manchester United have dropped their interest in signing former Tottenham star Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports.

In just about every transfer window since then, Bale’s name has come up when the subject of Manchester United targets is spoken about.

The Red Devils were linked with Bale in the summer of 2013 when the Welshman decided to leave Spurs for Madrid in an £86 million deal.

However, there is a good chance Spurs will also be put off due to the same reasons as United.

Madrid have spent close to £300 million already in the current transfer window, meaning they may need to sell the likes of Bale and James Rodriguez to avoid Financial Fair Play breaches.

If Tottenham do hold an interest in Bale, United have given the Londoners a chance to swoop for the former fan favourite.

But Sky Sports claims Manchester United no longer want to sign Bale because of the 29-year-old’s age and salary demands.
