According to an update courtesy of football.london correspondent Alasdair Gold, Tottenham Hotspur have shown an interest in striking star Carlos Vinicius recently amid reports that he could leave the Estádio Sport Lisboa e Benfica for up to half of his eye-watering £92.1 million release clause.

Indeed, the likes of Man United and Wolves showed a heavy interest in signing the forward recently, with football.london journalist Alasdair Gold now claiming that Spurs are eyeing a swoop themselves.

While this is still a high price to pay for Levy, the rumour of a potential 50% drop in his valuation could be too enticing to ignore, especially given his accolades.

Gold claims Spurs are casting a wide net of striking options, but judging by Vinicius’ pedigree, he could stand out as a real coup.

Along with his 23 strikes over 19/20, Vinicius has been nicknamed ‘the beast‘ and stands at a lofty 6ft 3 – potentially drawing attention to his top flight-worthy physicality.

Vinicius, who bagged 23 goals in all competitions for Benfica last season after the Portuguese side snapped him up for a meagre £15.3 million fee from Napoli (Transfermarkt), is now a wanted man by some of the Premier League’s top clubs according to recent reports.

Usually, the 25-year-old’s sky high £92.1m release clause would be a major speed bump for chairman Daniel Levy and co, but the player’s valuation may have dropped significantly as per updates from Portugal.
