Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that having a number of players wanting to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer made it difficult to create the atmosphere he wanted, but he will be brutal if that continues into the season.

Different players have different goals.

Kieran Trippier left for Atletico Madrid and Christian Eriksen made it clear early in the summer that he was looking for a new challenge, while Serge Aurier revealed this week that he was looking to leave Spurs but a move did not come to pass.

Pochettino admitted last month that this was the most unsettled Spurs squad he had managed since his arrival in north London in May 2014.

"No, because you cannot doubt the player’s commitment.

"The way after, what is said, there is a lot of history, the reality is that the manager, players, coaching staff, they have one year, they are happy, they need a different challenge.

He was asked whether a difficulty in selling players like Eriksen and Wanyama caused problems as well this summer.
