Tottenham forward Fernando Llorente has emerged as a January target for Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Star).

Llorente played under current Barcelona manage Ernesto Valverde during their time at Athletic Bilbao, and the report adds that the player has received a stamp of approval from Lionel Messi too.

Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba also rate the 33-year-old forward, and the report adds that Llorente spoke to the Barcelona squad during our 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp earlier in the season.

Son Heung-min will also leave the team to play in the Asian Cup, and this limits our options in the attack.

The Spanish striker only has a couple of starts to his name this season with both of them coming in domestic cup games.

The Spaniard has struggled for regular starts under Mauricio Pochettino and is being seen as cover for Luis Suarez, according to the report.

Vincent Janssen is the other senior striker in the team, but he has not made an appearance for the first XI this season.
