Tottenham will face off against Sheffield United on Thursday at Bramall Lane in the Premier League. And ahead of the contest, the Blades’ manager has provided some important injury update on his squad in his pre-match press conference.

One of the best defensive units in the Premier League, the Blades have suffered since the restart, mainly due to the absence of defensive stalwart Jack O’Connell. The defender injured himself during training after a collision with Dean Henderson and is yet to feature post restart.

Jack O’Connell has been a huge miss for Sheffield United

Ahead of the contest between the two teams, Wilder has claimed that O’Connell is closing in on a return. However, he insisted that the defender will not rushed back into action. (h/t Yorkshire Live)

“Every day that goes by is a better day for the club for Jack to be involved in a game. We just have to make that right decision for the medium and long term with these types of injuries as well. There will definitely not be a chance of us making a high risk decision, if it is right for us then we will consider it.”

Another key player that is likely to miss out for Sheffield United on Thursday is John Lundstram. The midfielder injured his shoulder during a game against Arsenal last weekend and is touch and go for the Tottenham clash. (h/t Yorkshire Live)

“Looking back at it, it looked like an awkward fall, so I imagine he will be touch and go for Thursday night. We are all dependent on the results of the scan.”

It is an important game for us considering the situation. With seven games left Spurs are nine points behind Chelsea in fourth. The gap could widen to twelve before we kick off on Thursday, so no slip-ups can be afforded.
