'Not good enough' - Paul Robinson slams Spurs man who 'gets caught out far too often'

Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that Serge Aurier remains the weak link in Spurs’ backline, despite improved performances under Jose Mourinho.

“He gets caught out far too often, he tries to read the game, he tries to steal the ball and then he drops off.

However, despite producing some strong attacking returns, Robinson is still not convinced about the former PSG man’s defensive capabilities.

Mourinho has admitted recently that he is utilising Aurier as an offensive threat (Football London), but when he comes up against the better teams who will push him back, his below par defensive game is likely to be exposed once more.

“I think Aurier defensively struggles and teams are exploiting that as they see Tottenham’s right-hand side as a weakness and targeting it.” It is hard to disagree with Robinson on this one.

Indeed, he provided an assist in their game against West Ham, whilst also scoring and claiming an assist against Olympiacos in the Champions League (Transfermarkt).

Whilst Aurier has looked strong in an attacking sense of late, he still looks vulnerable defensively.
