Mauricio Pochettino has rewarded himself and his Tottenham Hotspur “heroes” with a mini-break after they put one foot into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Second-half goals from Heung-Min Son, Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente secured a convincing last-16 first-leg victory over Borussia Dortmund.

It leaves Spurs on the brink of qualifying for the last eight of the Champions League for the first time since 2011 and the first time under manager Pochettino.

“My players are heroes, they deserve full credit,” said Pochettino.

“It was a massive performance and effort, and I want to congratulate them.” Tottenham do not play again until they travel to Burnley on February 23 and Pochettino confirmed he and his players can now put their feet up.
