On August 14, 2014, Mauricio Pochettino held his first official Premier League press conference as Tottenham Hotspur manager and it was his first held in English since he came to these shores.

However, when he joined Spurs after almost a year and a half on the south coast, it was time to start using the English he had learned before the club took on West Ham in their opening match of the 2014/15 Premier League season.

It was only a short press conference, far removed from the lengthy ones he holds now which can sometimes last up to almost an hour with the broadcast and written sections combined.

I don't speak.

Pochettino had joined in May from Southampton where he had always held his press conferences and interviews with a translator as he was not confident enough in his English to communicate what he wanted to say to the media.

This is important thing because that feeling, that belief in your ideas, and the group is more strong.

People speak now about how Pochettino's mood has changed in press conferences but in this first one he was very serious, no doubt nervous about getting his point across in English.
