Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino revealed that the Spurs hierarchy did not accept his managerial vision which led to his sacking.

In an interview with El Pais, Pochettino said: 'We live in a result-based industry where it seems that all the factors that maintain good results are the ones that work.

Pochettino managed to turn Spurs into a top team during his tenure, regularly finishing in the top four despite little financial backing in the transfer market by the club's board.

After losing the Champions League final to Liverpool in June 2019, Tottenham began the 2019-20 Premier League campaign in horrendous form and were 14th in the table when Pochettino was fired.

The Argentinian, who was branded by some supporters as the best Tottenham manager in the club's history, was replaced within 24 hours by iconic Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, who led Spurs to a sixth-placed finish in the league.

Pochettino admitted that Spurs' dip in form at the start of the season was something he predicted and accepted was part of the process to deliver trophies to Tottenham.

Pochettino added: 'We anticipated what could happen.
