Manchester City still could face a ban over allegations of Financial fair play breaches published via Football Leaks in Der Spiegel.

The reigning Premier League Champions launched legal action to attempt to have the investigation by UEFA's Club Financial Control Board (CFCB) halted over the leaks.

Back in May it was reported in the New York Times that UEFA's chief financial investigator, Yves Leterme recommended that the club face a one-year ban from the Champions League.

In court documents, it is revealed that the club claimed UEFA's failure to investigate the leaked information, that was published before the announcement that the club's case would go to CFCB adjudicatory chamber, "casts grave doubt upon the fairness, impartiality and integrity of the IC’s [Investigatory Chamber] approach."

However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport threw out the club's appeal in November, due to UEFA's adjudicatory chamber being yet to have make their own decision.

Documents also reveal that Man City were asked to comment on the Der Spiegel articles before a formal investigation into their conduct was opened by UEFA.

This means that Man City still could face a Champions League ban, which would serve as a huge boost to Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea's hopes of qualifying for the competition.

Chelsea are currently in fourth and final qualifying place, but are just two points ahead of fifth placed Sheffield United, and four points ahead of Tottenham in fifth place.

Arsenal sit in 10th position in the table, but will have to make up a 10 point gap should they wish to finish the season in the top four places.
