Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young, McTominay, Fred, James, Lingard, Greenwood, Rashford

Tottenham XI: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sissoko, Winks, Moura, Alli, Son, Kane

85: Decent attacking play from Spurs with Christian Eriksen beating Scott McTominay to the ball on the halfway line. He spreads it wide for Serge Aurier, whose half-volley is gobbled up by David de Gea.

83: Well I would have expected Tottenham to throw the kitchen sink at Manchester United in these final ten minutes but there’s very little in the way of clear-cut chances. Quite a tame finish at Old Trafford.

80: Manchester United make a change with Andreas Pereira replacing Mason Greenwood.

79: Wooosh! Son does a couple of stepovers over on the left of the area and his sweeping cross threatens to loop over De Gea before Serge Aurier fails to connect at the back post.

76: Quite a significant period of pressure for the visitors but once again the Manchester United defence hold strong. Serge Aurier looks to swing a cross into the box but Harry Kane is nowhere near it and David de Gea collects.

73: It’s all going on at Anfield tonight. It’s currently 4-2 to Liverpool and we’ve only just reached half-time! Crazy.

70:Final 20 minutes. Is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer going to get one over Jose Mourinho?

68:Harry Winks looks to have twisted his ankle on this slippery surface at Old Trafford. The rain is pouring down now as we enter the final 20 minutes. Daniel James goes from distance again and again Paulo Gazzaniga is there to palm it behind for a corner. Davinson Sanchez clears.

65:The inevitable substitution for Jose Mourinho as Christian Eriksen replaces Lucas Moura.

62: Save! Not seen too many long-rangers from Daniel James but on this evidence - he should shoot more! The Welsh international hits it clean and true from 20 yards out but Paulo Gazzaniga makes the stop.

59: Patient approach play from Tottenham is hitting a brick wall in the final third. Not enough guile to breach the Manchester United defence. That’s the old Christian Eriksen problem coming into effect again…

56:Harry Kane’s turn to be ambitious with a speculative effort from 25-yards out. He wins a corner from it and Fred does well to block a snapshot from Son on the edge of the box.

53:Latest scores: Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa, Leicester 1-0 Watford, Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham, Southampton 2-0 Norwich, Wolves 1-0 West Ham, Liverpool 3-1 Everton.

50:Ashley Young is a touch ambitious when trying to take on Lucas Moura just outside the penalty area. He’s dispossessed and Spurs break. Spurs get the ball into the box but Son Heung-min's shot is blocked.

47: GOAL! Disaster strikes for Mourinho’s side just 75 seconds after the resumption as Moussa Sissoko quite clearly trips Marcus Rashford inside the penalty area.

It goes to VAR for a lengthy check but the decision stands before the England international grabs his second of the evening. Never in doubt.

45: And we’re back underway folks. No changes for either side.

HT: Poised. Delicately poised.

45: Dele Alli has scored in three consecutive appearances in all competitions for the first time since March 2017 (four in a row). Just a halt in play with Marcus Rashford on the deck injured. Looks to be winded after a collision with Davinson Sanchez.

44: That’s just SO Manchester United lately. They’ve dominated this half but will be going in level at the break. Quite gutting for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

42: Manchester United fans might feel miffed that the Dele Alli goal stood. The ball did brush the top of his arm as he scooped it over his head. However, the neutral would never want to see a goal like that disallowed.

39: GOAL! Take a bow, Dele Alli! That is a superb goal.

The in-form Tottenham midfielder scoops a looping ball over Fred and Ashley Young before clipping a half-volley over the onrushing David de Gea. There was a quick VAR check to see if Alli had handled the ball - but the goal stands!

37: I suppose the fear for Manchester United fans is that their side have a habit of downing tools at any given moment. Can’t afford to take your foot off the gas against a Jose Mourinho side - you’ll be punished.

36: Best performance I’ve seen from Manchester United in a long while. There’s just a sense of fearlessness and determination to attack at speed. Jose Mourinho has finally found a way to motivate the United dressing room…

33:Not too sure what Jose Mourinho’s plan is tonight. Tottenham look a bit disorganised and ragged in their approach play. No rhythm or fluency whatsoever. Serge Aurier receives the ball out wide before firing cross into orbit.

30:Another update, another shot on target from Marcus Rashford. Paul Gazzaniga, again, is equal to it and parries wide. The corner comes to nothing but Tottenham really are clinging on at Old Trafford.

28: Woodwork! That’s straight out of the Cristiano Ronaldo handbook! Marcus Rashford is afforded time to pick his spot and thunder an effort against the crossbar. Looks like Paulo Gazzaniga got a vital touch there. Massive save!

25: Chance! Quick play from Manchester United as Daniel James feeds Jesse Lingard, who turns it into the path of Mason Greenwood. The teenager fires through the legs of Toby Alderweireld but Paulo Gazzaniga makes amends with a solid stop.

22:Well you can’t knock Manchester United tonight. They’ve come flying out of the traps and fully deserve their lead as we approach the 25-minute mark. Marcus Rashford in particular looks on fire.

19:Mamadou Sakho was sent off for less yesterday! Moussa Sissoko goes in high on Fred and the hosts have a free-kick outside the box. No prizes for guessing who’ll take this.

Marcus Rashford steps up… wide. Nice looping effort but I suspect Paulo Gazzaniga had that covered.

16: Ouch! Now this is odd… Jose Mourinho and Daniel James are struggling with injury! YES, you read that correctly.

Harry Winks slides into the winger and the Manchester United man catches Mourinho on the way off the field. The Portuguese gives him a friendly pat on the back and life continues.

15: Marcus Rashford has scored 11 goals in his last 13 games for Man Utd & England; three more than in his previous 13 appearances in 2019-20.

13:Ironic cheers as Harry Kane leathers it over the crossbar. Quite a poor effort from the England talisman, who is at risk of being dropped from my Fantasy Football squad. I’m sure he’ll be devastated about that…

12:Lucas Moura gets his foot on the ball for the first time this evening. The Brazilian reaches the byline but his cutback is blocked. Fred then clips the top of Harry Kane just outside the penalty area and Spurs have a free-kick within shooting range. Could be interesting this…

9:These Amazon Prime microphones are very close to the pitch. All I keep hearing is “MARCUS, MARUCUS, MARCUS…” It’s like something from I’m Alan Partridge.

7: GOAL! Manchester United take the lead at Old Trafford courtesy of Marcus Rashford and Paulo Gazzaniga…

Rashford is allowed to drive down the left channel and cut inside completely unopposed. He decides to fire a signature skidding drive that beats the Spurs goalkeeper at his near post. Should have stopped that.

6:Huge roar as Fred plays a delightful cross field pass to find Marcus Rashford on the left flank. He lays it off for Jesse Lingard but the midfielder can’t bring it under his spell and he’s crowded out by two or three white shirts. Hell of a noise inside Old Trafford.

3:Quite a cagey opening at Old Trafford but If pushed I would say the hosts have shaded it. They are certainly playing with more zip and pep than shown recently. Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have already shown signs of a profitable relationship.

Spurs? Well they are prepared to play long and look for space in behind.

1: And we’re underway at Old Trafford. Plenty of hugs and high fives in the tunnel as the players waited to emerge. The kind of camaraderie that Roy Keane would despise. Anyway, packed house and a great atmosphere - this should be interesting.

19:25: Almost underway at Old Trafford and the other four games in the 7.30pm slot. Prepare yourselves for mayhem. I can see plenty of goals with both defences giving away goals for fun lately. Happy to sit on the fence with a 2-2 prediction…

Liverpool vs Everton

19:20: I know you’re here for the Old Trafford clash but this Liverpool team news is very interesting indeed. Is Jurgen Klopp taking the mickey?!

19:15: Jose Mourinho has defended his decision to live in a hotel during his stint as Manchester United manager.

Mourinho was fired almost 12 months ago after a poor start to the season, which was fuelled by a fractious dressing room amid a fall-out with Paul Pogba.

The 56-year-old, who had led United to a second placed finish in the season where winners Manchester City recorded 100 points, received criticism for his stay at the Lowry hotel in Salford.

"You know how I would be unhappy? I would be unhappy if I was in a house on my own," he said. "I would have to clean, I don't want. I would have to iron, I don't know how to. I have to cook, I would cook fried eggs and sausages - that's the only thing I can do.”

Nothing wrong with fried eggs and sausages, Jose.

19:10: Fergie and Berba? I feel a sitcom idea coming on…

The pair briefly spoke at Old Trafford earlier this evening before the Bulgarian icon joined the punditry side on Amazon Prime. He’s alongside Harry Redknapp, Peter Schmeichel and most importantly - Jim Rosenthal! Still doing the business at 72!

Man Utd vs Tottenham LIVE: Premier League score, team news and updates (Image: GETTY)‘We always come to win’

19:05: Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho on his return to Old Trafford: "It's good, I shook hands happily, good people, nice people here and now it's time to go to work. They want to win and I want to win. We always come to win and they will have the same objective.

"Normally when you play so many matches you normally do a little bit [changes]. A couple is normal."

On Dele Alli: "He cannot be man of the match in every game, we cannot expect that or demand that, we can just expect his enthusiasm and his motivation.

"So far happy we have scored more than the opposition, you want to score more than you concede, if that's the same today I will be very very happy."

Man Utd vs Tottenham LIVE: Premier League score, team news and updates (Image: GETTY)Solskjaer speaks…

19:00: Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "We've got a couple of injuries. Scott McTominay is back and fit to play. It was an easy decision to get him in. Jesse Lingard has been really good in the last few weeks from the bench so we give him a chance.

"Ashley Young is very important, our club captain. He's got experience and is vocal in the dressing room. He's one of our leaders. It's important to have experience in the big games.

"We've got exciting forwards, hopefully we can create chances for them. I've been waiting to see Mason Greenwood in the Premier League - it's a big stage against a big team but I'm sure he's ready."

Asked about going toe-to-toe with Jose Mourinho, Solskjaer added: "It's a normal game. He's not on the pitch, neither am I."

Man Utd vs Tottenham LIVE: Premier League score, team news and updates (Image: GETTY)Mauricio Pochettino…

18:55: He’s teasing us, isn’t he? Mauricio Pochettino says he is "open to listen to projects" in Europe as he plans a return to management.

The 47-year-old has been strongly linked with Manchester United and Arsenal since being sacked last month.

"There are a lot of clubs and attractive projects for me to take on," Pochettino told Fox Sports Argentina. "It is my intention to return to manage in Europe. But now I need to be calm for a few days and see what happens."

Where do YOU think Poch will end up?

Ben: So if Jose Mourinho leads his Tottenham team to a win at United tonight, it could lead to his successor being sacked and replaced by his predecessor. Football. Funny old game.

Barry: I hope for OGS’ sake that it’s Greenwood up top rather than Rashford. We know rashford much more effective on the left and Greenwood is the natural number 9 capable of anticipating James’ dangerous crosses.

Ed: Ashley Young over Williams (and Luke Shaw) at left back tonight... We might need to several drinks to gets through this one!

18:45: Jose Mourinho, who was fired 351 days ago, makes two changes, selecting Harry Winks and Lucas Moura in place of Tanguy Ndombele and Eric Dier.

Moura scored twice here for Spurs last season as they beat Mourinho's United 3-0.

Team news - Manchester United

18:40: Well those claiming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would play with five at the back are looking a touch silly now. The Norwegian tactician is actually playing a 4-2-3-1 with young Mason Greenwood spearheading the attack.

Scott McTominay returns as Manchester United make four changes to the side that drew 1-1 against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Anthony Martial, Brandon Williams, Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira are replaced by Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young, Mason and McTominay.

18:25: Now, rumour on the street is that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to do something radical tonight.

In fact, another newspaper suggests he’s 'plotting drastic tactical switch’.

That drastic switch? It’s to play a back five… we should find out if those reports are accurate in a few minutes.

What’s on?

18:20: Plenty of action on offer tonight. Love a good midweek fixture list - always makes me think of Christmas.

Chelsea v Aston Villa, Leicester v Watford, Manchester United v Tottenham, Southampton v Norwich, Wolves v West Ham, Liverpool v Everton.

All of those start at the new and improved time of 7:30pm apart from the Merseyside derby - which is at 8:15pm to maximise the agony for Marco Silva and Co.

18:15: Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Manchester United vs Tottenham from Old Trafford.

It’s the Premier League - but there’s a very big difference.

And that’s because Sky and BT have been temporarily thrown aside with Amazon Prime stepping forward to provide coverage of every single match.

I caught some of the action yesterday and it looked pretty good. Peter Drury and Jim Beglin on commentary took me back to the good old days of Champions League on ITV. The nostalgia alone was worth the £9 subscription…

Anyway, It’s a big night for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Jose Mourinho returns to Old Trafford with Tottenham.

Spurs have a 100% record under Mourinho, having won all three of their games since he took charge. In comparison, United have been struggling under Solskjaer and have won just one of their last four Premier League games.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims to be unmoved by the start of sacking season as the under-fire Manchester United manager prepares for predecessor Jose Mourinho's Old Trafford return.

Premier League draws with promoted Sheffield United and Aston Villa leaves United in the midst of their worst start to a top-flight campaign in 31 years.

The pressure on Solskjaer could well ratchet up on Wednesday when Mourinho returns to Old Trafford with Tottenham, where he has benefited from the start of sacking season.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, Arsenal's Unai Emery and Watford head coach Quique Sanchez Flores have all left in the last fortnight - managerial changes that Solskjaer says have not alarmed him.

"No, it doesn't make me more concerned," the United boss said, having rejected a report that he fears the sack if he loses to Tottenham and then Manchester City this weekend.

"I'm just focusing on my job and that's doing as well as I can and look forward to the next game, but also look long-term, plan things with the board."
