Tottenham Hotspur might have had a long break ahead of Thursday's Premier League match against Sheffield United but Jose Mourinho is not happy with that or what comes next.

Spurs took on Manchester United and West Ham United in quick succession following their three months out.

While having nine days after that victory against the Hammers to prepare for another massive match against Chris Wilder's Sheffield United might seem a perfect change to regroup and let aching limbs recover, the mass of fixtures afterwards negates it.

Spurs travel up to Sheffield for the match on Thursday and then four days later host Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Three days after that they travel to Bournemouth and then less than three full days after that they welcome Arsenal for the North London derby.

In contrast Arsenal will get two extra days of rest before that Sunday derby because they host Leicester City on the Tuesday.

Mourinho admitted before Tottenham went away for their nine-day break that he was not a fan of the scheduling.

"Look, to be honest, I don't like the nine days until Sheffield but I also don't like to play three games in six days, which is going to happen in the week we play Arsenal and Arsenal is going to have six days from the previous game to that one and we are going to play six days, three matches," he said.

"I don't like both. I like the balance. Three days in between matches. These days are not good for us at all."

Mourinho will be hoping that he has everybody available for the matches ahead because squad rotation is likely to be the order of the day with so many games in quick succession and little recovery time.
