Heung Min Son has spoken pubically for the first time since fracturing his arm in the opening minutes of Tottenham’s Premier League victory at Aston Villa last month, only for the South Korean forward to continue playing before scoring twice, including an injury-time winner that helped earn Spurs a crucial three points.

However, less than 48 hours after his last-gasp winner at Villa Park, Son was given the bad news after X-rays showed that the 27-year-old has fractured his arm and would be ruled out for an extended period of time.

And then in Jose Mourinho’s pre-match press conference prior Tottenham’s Champions League first leg time against RB Leipzig, the Portuguese revealed that Son would miss the remainder of the season.

However, with the current break due to the Coronavirus forcing all professional games in England to be suspended until 30 April at the earliest, Son’s chances of turning out for Spurs again this season are extremely unlikely.

Sonny told the official club website: “I’m doing alright, doing what I can do, working hard, trying to be ready to come back as soon as I can.

“I miss the feeling of playing, of course, but at this moment, football is not important. Everyone’s health is most important, and we all need to stay safe.”

“I kept playing, I don’t know how. I could feel it in the game, yes, but it was so important, I didn’t want to say I couldn’t play because of my arm and tried to keep going to help the team.

“I wanted to play the in the Leipzig game, I wanted to play against Chelsea as well, but I went to hospital, had an X-ray and couldn’t believe it when I saw the pictures. It was very sad news.

“Anyway, it’s already more than four weeks after surgery now and I’m doing very, very well and working hard to be ready to come back.”
