Ex-Spurs forward Darren Bent believes Juan Foyth should be given a run in the first team as the club look to solve their current defensive concerns.

But speaking to Football Insider, Bent feels another change could be of more benefit to Spurs, who cannot seem to find the solid combination at the back to grind out results.

He said: “I think [Foyth] could be the one, because at the minute, Spurs don’t look solid at all and they need some sort of stability in order to be a solid team that is hard to play against.

Tottenham dropped points at home once again as their wait for a Premier League win stretched to five games against Sheffield United this weekend.

Perhaps the lack of stability that Bent references is the key to some sort of recovery.

With no new additions at centre-back during the summer, it may be surprising that Pochettino is in this predicament, but the bottom line, as Bent suggests, seems to be that stability is what Spurs require as soon as possible.

Toby Alderweireld dropped to the bench after partnering Davinson Sanchez at the back for the last few weeks, with Eric Dier stepping in.
