Mauricio Pochettino has picked his top three Premier League players.

The catch being that the former Tottenham boss was not allowed to select any of his former charges. It meant he was unable to fall back on Harry Kane, who he has previously described as the "best striker in the world".

Perhaps surprisingly, and despite being a defender himself, the Argentine showed his appetite for offensive players with a couple of his selections.

He told Sky Sports: "[Kevin] De Bruyne, one. [Sergio] Aguero, another. The problem is it's going to be unfair. I don't know what I can tell you .... [Roberto] Firminio, maybe? Yes."

"But there are are about 100 players I can describe that are nearly all my favourites!"

Pochettino, who recently said he "dreams" of a Tottenham return, also spoke of potentially facing his former side in the future.

"It might never happen or maybe it happens quick," he added. "But like when it happened when we played against Southampton, it’s going to be special, for sure.
