Chris Wilder refused to get sucked into the debate about VAR even though his Sheffield United side were on the wrong end of an incredibly tight decision at Tottenham.

The Blades thought they had levelled the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when David McGoldrick got on the end of a low cross from the left.

“We didn’t see it or wait to get beat, we wanted to win and we’re disappointed we didn’t do that.” Wilder was pushed further on VAR, but the Blades boss reiterated his point that he and his team would accept any VAR decision that comes their way.

“We gifted the opposition their goal and it’s obvious there’s going to be opportunities for them with the number of top class players they have, but we limited really good players and a really good to very little and really took the game to the opposition.

Wilder said: “The big toe of John Lundstram, eh?

However, it was disallowed because John Lundstram, who put in a cross from the right earlier in the move, was ruled offside.

VAR is a topic that has been debated every week since it was brought into the Premier League this season but Wilder refused to be drawn into it when speaking to talkSPORT’s Ian Abrahams after the game.
