Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit back at Anthony Joshua after the boxer predicted Harry Kane would beat the Gabonese star in a boxing match. Joshua was quizzed on which footballers would win in the ring if they were paired with each other.

BBC Sport showed AJ pictures of Arsenal forward Aubameyang and Tottenham striker Kane.

Former heavyweight world champion Joshua was hesitant before declaring "I think I'm going to go for Kane".

And it has not gone down well with Aubameyang, who is preparing for Arsenal’s clash with Brighton on Thursday.

The forward responded to a Tweet showing the clip, by saying: "I'm disappointed big man", along with three laughing emojis.

Aubameyang grabbed two goals on Sunday in the 2-2 Premier League draw against Norwich.

It was Freddie Ljungberg’s first game in charge of the Gunners with the Swede taking the reins on a temporary basis following the sacking of Unai Emery.

And captain Aubameyang believes Ljungberg can change Arsenal’s fortunes with the club without a win in eight matches across all competitions.

"Everybody is respectful of Freddie," the striker said after the draw at Carrow Road.

"He played for Arsenal, he knows as a player how we feel. It’s interesting to have him.

"We had only one session with him, maybe two for those guys who didn’t play on Thursday.

“We will see this week what is going to happen. For me personally I think it’s good for us. He played for Arsenal and he has this in his heart.

"He can give us something special. He was part of the Invincibles - his career speaks for itself. We will try to follow him and give the best for him."

For Joshua, his focus is fully on his rematch with Andy Ruiz, which takes place in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

He said: “It’s been about being confident, about knowing my capabilities. I’ve had a great training camp, I am well prepared, and ready to showcase my skills.

“He’s been on my mind five weeks prior to June 1 because that’s when he came in as my replacement, and he will be on my mind forever.

“If Andy Ruiz is dedicated to the game we will see each other a third time down the line as well. This won’t be the last time I see Andy Ruiz in the ring.

“If God calls it that’s what’s going to happen. I feel it in my heart, and believe in myself, so yeah I’ll be victorious.

“Shout out to all of my sparring partners for preparing me. You are going to see fireworks on Saturday. This is an important fight and like I said, this fight isn’t going 12 rounds.”
