North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are set to go to war over highly-rated Getafe centre-back Djene Dakonam, with the Togo star rated at £22million.

Dakonam will be the subject of a tug of war between the Gunners and Spurs, according to the Sun, with Everton, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace also keen.

He might not have youth on his side anymore, but the defender is versatile, with the ability to play at either centre half or right back.

He has played 49 times for his country, starring at the African Cup of Nations in recent years.

There are still three years left on his contract, but his age may mean that English sides can snap him up on a much cheaper deal.

Dakonam started his career in the Benin Premier League before moving to Alcorcon in the Spanish second tier.

He then signed for Belgian side Sint-Truidense before joining Getafe in 2017, where he had played 91 times.
