It was given though and Sheffield United held out to claim a creditable 1-1 draw.

It was at the Tottenham vs Sheffield United match where the new system stole the headlines with the Blades being disallowed a goal by the most marginal offside call.

But as you can see from the picture below, the decision could be viewed as harsh on Sheffield United as Lundstram appears to be offside, by a toe’s length… This call did not sit well with talkSPORT host Adrian Durham, who argued that Lundstram’s involvement did not directly lead to the goal anyway.

VAR has become a huge talking point once again in the Premier League this weekend.

However, the goal was ruled out by the VAR crew at Stockley Park in London as Blades man John Lundstram, who crossed the ball in from the right earlier in the move, was ruled offside.

This goal was also reviewed by VAR as their were question marks surrounding Chris Basham’s position when the ball was played as Baldock’s ball appeared to be intended for him.

But once again, more questions will be asked about whether VAR is truly fit for purpose.
